These last few days have been so wonderful! On Thursday we continued our drive through Utah and Colorado. Both states are simply beautiful! We kept taking pictures, but no matter how many you take, you cannot fully capture the beauty. Thursday night we stayed in a hotel only 8 miles away from our school the next morning.
When we arrived at our school Friday morning, we walked around looking for our contact person or a custodian as usual so we could find out where we needed to set up. After a little while, 5 students, in 7th and 8th grade, who came to help us. You could tell some of them were a little more timid, but they were all willing to do whatever we asked and it was extremely helpful. We had our show setup about 30 minutes early except for a few minor things that Dorina and I needed to fix. At that moment one of the teachers came in and told us that the students only sat in a certain part of the bleachers. Normally this would not seem like a big deal, but we had set everything up to be centered in the entire gym, not just one side. We ended up having to move everything! I was extremely grateful that we had so may students because it took 6 of us, with Dorina directing, to move the screens as well as the A/V equipment and fix the cords. This could have easily been a stressful situation but luckily we had time, flexibility, and several helping hands! The show went great, the students were very responsive, and everything looked good. Success!
After our show in Kersey we decided we would start driving. Normally we would book a hotel at least the night before so we had an idea where we were headed the next day. Partially due to tiredness and laziness, we decided we would stop at a Starbucks throughout our drive and book a hotel along the way. We had a little bit more flexibility because we didn't have another show until Monday anyway. As we started driving we saw a Starbucks and decided to get off. Then we found out it was a total of 7 miles out of our way to get there (and with having to keep track of personal miles, it just wasn't worth it!). So we kept driving. The next one we found was on a toll road so we didn't stop, assuming we should find another one soon after. We were wrong! We drove about another 60 miles through nothingness basically, and came up to Limon, CO. We saw a McDonald's and knew that they had Internet. We struck out again because it would not let either of us online. As we were packing up to leave, a man came up to us and asked if we had gotten any Internet. We sadly told him no and he told us that he would sometimes sit in parking lots of motels to get it and he told us where there was one down the road. We decided to drive that way and pulled into The Safari Inn. It was a cute little place, very welcoming, with a pool and play ground. As we got there I mentioned that we might as well just see about staying there for the weekend. The motel was within our budget, the managers were super friendly and helpful, and we had Internet! It was such a great choice!
We pretty much spent the weekend relaxing, connecting with people and enjoying Colorado. The town we were in was small but they actually had a car show on Saturday so we were able to walk around and see a little bit of the town. It was a great choice! I was so grateful for a good weekend and great people to be around! I simply feel blessed through the provision we have received, the beauty that surrounds us and the interactions we have had!
