Last Wednesday Dorina, my teammate for this semester, and I found out that we were going to be headed out to northern California for about a week. We didn't even have 24 hours and we were on the road. It's now Monday, we have already held our first two shows and we have two more before be head back to Los Angeles. Doing this mini trip has me excited about what this year has in store. At the same time my curiousity is rising as I anticipate the semester.
I sat in a hotel room a few nights ago questioning what our time was going to look like. Other than shows and driving how will we fill our time? Who will we come in contact with? What problems will we run in to? What amazing memories are we going to make? What awesome sights will we see?
I have already felt so blessed by this opportunity. I was reminded as we checked into our hotel last night that I need to be willing to let God work through me with every interaction I have. There were some problems with our online reservation so we had to wait a little bit for the system to reboot. The gentleman at the front desk was talking to us about the weather, where we came from, etc. I love having converstations with people, but it was really hard to understand his accent and I felt bad always asking him to repeat himself. It would have been easier to just end the conversation, but it continued until we got checked in. Now I didn't share the Gospel with him but I was able to share love, love that Christ has given me, simply by talking with him.
As for the actual presentations, we have seen almost 900 students between the two schools we have presented at. Today we had 4 awesome high school students helping us as well. What a great opportunity to chat with them! I really enjoyed being able to work as well at talk and have a good time with them! It really is crazy to think how easily you can connect with people you don't know. As I sit through the shows I am again reminded about the work God is doing even if we can't see it. By the end of this year I will have seen this show dozens of times! While it is running, what a perfect time for me to be in prayer for the students who are watching the presenation at that moment! I know that God is moving and working no matter what! He loves every student and person that I come in contact with this year! I pray that I am faithful to love them with the love Christ is poured on me, through how I work, my faithfulness to prayer, and most importantly my dedication to letting Christ be all that I need and my number one desire!
Dorina and I have also had some moments of laughter, whether it was from deciding to try a family diner and being worried about actually eating their food, standing in the middle of a road being indecisive, leaving keys, etc. I am excited to see how we conintue to get to know one another this year as we serve together in this ministry.
An added bonus about this job is also getting to travel to places that are near friends. When I first heard that we were not leaving on tour until Sept. 8 I was somewhat disappointed because I was ready to go. I just wanted to hit the road! Since our tour did not start until later we had the ability to do this northern California trip. I have several people in this area that I didn't think I would get to see. Over the weekend Dorina and I traveled to Chico, CA and stayed with my friend Adria who was my suitemate at Barclay. What a blessing it was to see a dear friend! Also within an hour I will be meeting two more friends for lunch and hopefully seeing a professor tomorrow in the San Francisco area. God has blessed me greatly with wonderful people in my life and now with the opportunity to see some of them!
The adventure has begun and I am excited for the ride!
Beautiful Tiffany. I loved getting to talk with you the other night and I am truly excited to see where this next leg of the journey takes you! Many hugs ;) - Ruby
